I like Benefit products, especially their kits. I think it’s a great way to sample their products. I’ve been drawn to their highlighting products like Girl Meets Pearl and High Beam, and have been wanting to try them.
It wasn’t until recently that I purchased Finding Mr. Bright, which is a kit that has both of the highlighting products that I want to try and more in sample sizes. This way, I would be able to gauge which products I would want to repurchase in full sizes.
Last Saturday I had a full social day. Morning I did my usual writing and by lunch time I was preparing for my afternoon date with the boyfriend. And by dinner time, I’ll be joining the rest of the family for my Papa’s post birthday celebration (his birthday was on June 10).
So taking to consideration I had a full day, and wouldn’t have the time to change my makeup for the night, I went ahead and applied a makeup look that’s appropriate for the afternoon and would last until the evening. Here’s what I came up with:
The great thing about big shoots is being able to hang out with fellow makeup artists and hair stylists. We get to exchange notes, go through each other’s makeup stash, and if given the available downtime, do each other’s hair and makeup.
In one recent shoot, we had some downtime, waiting for the set to be ready and etc. So I chatted away about my hair color and the ombre trend. I have been targeting to get put some pink color on the tips of my hair. My initial peg was this:
Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz in Argan Oils and how good they are for the hair. I’m not a big oil fan since my scalp tend to be oily at times.
But the only way to find out is to try. So when I went to replenish my stock of beauty items at Landmark, I decided to grab a bottle of Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Oil by Organix. The product promises to “instantly mend split ends, creating soft frizz-free perfection while protecting your hair from harmful styling heat and UV damage, giving a smooth, glossy, shine.”
I really like that it’s in a convenient spray bottle so I don’t have to touch the product. It smells so good and fresh too. The direction says to spray the product to a damp hair then blow dry it “to infuse the product into the hair shafts.” Then, spay it on the dry hair again “for optimal shine and to control frizz.”
When I have trouble falling asleep, I watch a movie on my laptop or I browse makeup products online. I just love lusting over high-quality products and all those colors of makeup brands we often don’t have here. Sure we have Rustan’s Department Store to provide us with MAC, Bobbi Brown, etc. Still it’s not the same with the large collection available in the U.S.
Sure, we can thank online sellers in Multiply and in Facebook for providing us with what we’re missing but when it comes to makeup, I need to feel the product and take time to think about it.
That’s why if I had three wishes (beauty/makeup related) I’d wish for…
Wish Number 1: I wish we have stores like Ulta and Sephora; and drugstores like CVS and Walgreens. Ulta and Sephora are self-explanatory, but why the drugstores? Well, they have a really LARGE selection of beauty lines like Revlon, Maybelline, Almay, Sally Hansen, ORLY, etc. Plus, it’s open 24 hours a day. Imagine if you had a makeup/beauty emergency at 3 a.m. you can always go there and get what you need. And the quality of these brands are really not that bad. You get what you pay for when it comes to the brands carried by Walgreens and CVS.
Aside from my love for makeup, I also like keeping them organized. I like keeping them neat and in a system I have made for myself. I I have a drawer in my vanity where I keep most of my makeup products. Here’s an overview:
No, nobody’s taking off his or her clothes. I’m talking about searching for that perfect Nude nail polish.
I love nude nail polish just because it makes my stubby fingers look clean and my nails healthy looking. Also as a makeup artist, I keep my fingernails short for hygienic reasons; and the nude polish makes my hands look more presentable.
There’s a lot more of these Nude polish around than the usual tan or beige color. Just check out this article from Total Beauty and find what’s the best nude nail color for you.
Orly, OPI, and Essie products are available in online stores like Digital Traincase and Zalora. Meanwhile, Deborah Lippman products are available in Rustan’s Department Stores.

I became really comfortable with my long hair. In fact, I wouldn’t do anything drastic when it comes to hairstyles. Just a few layers or some bangs, have it in a ponytail, or curl it, but that’s about it. Then came the time that I really wanted shorter hair, because I want to avoid my hair getting stuck between my shoulder and the straps of my bag. You know what I mean, the pain of trying to gently pull out your hair from getting stuck and removing your bag from your shoulder until you realize your hair got wrapped around the bag’s handle and just feel some strands getting pulled from your head.
Summer came and went and I watch those who were brave enough to chop their lustrous mane with envy. So one Sunday I just went with my Mom who was getting a trim in Fabio Salsa at the Power Plant Mall.
Here’s the result!
It sure feels lighter and I need less shampoo for it.
